Transports Derocq celebrate their 20th anniversary with a Chargepoly station

As part of its strategy of decarbonizing its deliveries, and to support its industrial customers, Vendée-based transport operator Derocq installed an ultra-fast electric charging station from CHARGEPOLY engineering at the end of April. The transition to electrification is taking place month by month, 20 years after the family business was founded.

There are some exemplary businesses that are built on hard work. Such is the case of the Vendée-based transport company Derocq, created by its founder and current CEO Damien Derocq. In 2004, Damien Derocq decided to launch Transports Derocq, a family-run transport company based in Montaigu-Vendée (85). For five years, he travelled the roads of the region on his own, delivering his first customers. In 2015, he made a strategic decision. Damien Derocq bought Transports Revelaud to expand his business nationwide. 5 years later, another external growth operation. This time, he acquired Transports Soulard, enabling him to expand into the construction and public works market. Now, 20 years after its creation, the company employs 80 people and has a fleet of almost 70 Euro 6-compliant tractors, delivering to major manufacturers in the joinery, food processing and construction sectors. With a 4,000 m2 logistics warehouse at its head office, the company is currently building a second 3,000 m2 building in Chavagnes-en-Paillers to meet RE2020 requirements, which it is already planning to extend. The storage building, which will be handed over in December, will be equipped with 3,000 m2 of solar panels, enabling the company to gradually implement its energy transition.

When it came to greening his fleet of vehicles, Damien Derocq opted for electrification. After testing other energy sources, electricity seems to me to be the best solution for the future,” says Damien Derocq. For environmental reasons, of course, but also for economic reasons. There can be no energy transition without considering this cost logic, which is vital for our companies”. On the strength of this analysis, the transporter has just invested in the purchase of 3 Renault Trucks tractors, which were delivered in early April, as well as a fourth truck from a German manufacturer for delivery in the 1st quarter of 2025. To charge the vehicles already received, Transports Derocq chose to install a CHARGEPOLY ultra-fast charging station at the end of April. This is equipped with a Power Unit serving 3 charging satellites, delivering an installed power of 200 kW. Electric vehicles shuttle goods locally from two production plants to the depot of a major logistics provider. Tours of 250, 450 or 650 km, in 2×8, depending on transport requirements. After a few weeks of use, Damien Derocq says he’s “very satisfied with the solution and his partnership with CHARGEPOLY”. The Aix-en-Provence engineering company was chosen for its offer, the French manufacture of its charging solution, and the quality of its teams’ attentiveness and support.
