As part of its strategy to decarbonize its transport business, logistics provider BERT&YOU has just commissioned an ultra-fast electric charging station from specialist CHARGEPOLY at Sorgues in the Vaucluse department. A second will be installed in July in the Drôme region.
BERT&YOU is banking on green mobility. And that’s putting it mildly! Under the impetus of Yann Colin, the transport and logistics company has created an in-house unit entirely dedicated to monitoring, sourcing, and implementing solutions aimed at decarbonizing its business using green infrastructures and energies: biofuel, gas, hydrogen and, for the past three years, electricity. “We started in 2021 by electrifying the fleet vehicles that move trailers around logistics sites. Since then, seven have been deployed,” comments Yann Colin, Director of Green Mobility at BERT&YOU. To reinforce its fleet electrification initiative, last year the logistics provider acquired a Renault Trucks forwarder and three Volvo FM 100% electric tractors for its deliveries, bringing its fleet to eleven vehicles.
Up to six charging points per station in the future
To recharge the Renault Trucks forwarder and two of the recently acquired Volvo tractors, BERT&YOU has purchased two ultra-fast charging stations from Aix-based engineering company CHARGEPOLY. One was deployed at the end of April at its Sorgues branch in the Vaucluse region. It will be used to recharge the 16-tonne truck used for deliveries to downtown Marseille. The second charging point will be operational in July at Saint-Rambert-D’albon, in the Drôme region. It will supply electricity to two tractors carrying out collection operations in the region on behalf of an industrial customer. Each CHARGEPOLY station is equipped with three charging stations, with the possibility of upgrading to six distribution points depending on BERT&YOU’s future needs. The “Power Unit HP200” converter cabinets each deliver an installed power of 200 kW.
Mastering intelligent charging technology
BERT&YOU chose CHARGEPOLY for several reasons. “CHARGEPOLY designs, manufactures, and installs its own solutions (station and software). This is very reassuring, as it guarantees total mastery of their technologies and ensures optimal after-sales service. Their support, from the pre-sales discussion phase right through to station start-up, is also an undeniable CHARGEPOLY quality,” explains Yann Colin. Another argument is Made in France: “In our choice of service providers, we try to work with agile French companies like CHARGEPOLY, so that we can co-construct the future together”, he continues. Finally, the intelligence of CHARGEPOLY’s solution also tipped the scales in favor of the Aix-based company. “The station, made up of a Power Unit and three 200kW satellite charging stations, provides great flexibility in both deployment and use, with a small footprint. What’s more, its software enables us to recharge vehicles according to our operating constraints – schedules, battery size, etc. – which is a real plus”, explains the Director of Green Mobility. Between 2025 and 2027, BERT&YOU plans to deploy new stations in around ten of the Group’s branches.
